National Rugby League Betting
The National Rugby League is Australia’s top tier rugby league tournament. The NRL Premiership, as it’s commonly known, is said to be the world’s most popular rugby tournament in terms of attendances at the games. Unlike the European Super League, the NRL Premiership is played during Australia’s Winter season (May to September).
The National Rugby League is featured heavily on all of Australia’s main betting operators. The sites offer a huge number of different NRL Premiership Betting markets, and of course also offer the simple betting options such as the Outright winner.
UK betting sites are unfortunately not as comprehensive in the coverage they give the NRL Premiership – perhaps understandable given that it runs concurrently with the European Super League. That said, most major betting sites in the UK like William Hill do offer betting markets on the key fixtures in the National Rugby League such as the NRL Grand Final.
The format for the National Rugby League is perhaps unusual to those not familiar with it. 16 teams are split into two separate pools, based on the results from the previous NRL season. Each club then takes on the other 8 teams from the other division home and away, whilst only playing 6 of the teams from their own pool once, with the remaining team played twice. This gives the league a total of 24 matches per team.
Thankfully, despite being based in Australia, UK betting sites are still happy to provide free bets on the NRL Premiership, with the likes of William Hill offering up to £25 free betting.
St. George Illawarra Dragons won the most recent NRL season, by beating Sydney Roosters 32 points to 8. The game was witnessed by 82,334 people at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
